What We Need From You ... and what to expect

Great partnerships go both ways. To keep things running smoothly, here’s what we ask from your team—and where the boundaries of the Helm program are.

What We’ll Need From You

  • A clear point of contact to help prioritize work and make decisions.
  • Timely responses to questions, approvals, and access requests—we move faster when we’re not stuck waiting.
  • Access to relevant tools and systems, like hosting, source code, or analytics platforms.
  • Visibility into your goals, so we can align our work with what matters most.
  • Open communication, early and often. We’ll be transparent with you, and we ask the same in return.

What’s Included

  • Support for websites or apps built with Drupal and/or Ruby on Rails
  • Bug fixes, upgrades, performance tuning, and security updates
  • Feature development, based on the hours in your plan
  • Proactive site reviews and recommendations
  • All communication and task tracking via Basecamp

What’s Not Included

  • Emergency 24/7 support—we work during normal business hours (defined during onboarding)
  • Support for platforms outside Drupal or Rails (e.g., WordPress, Shopify, .NET)
  • Hosting and infrastructure management beyond basic coordination
  • Full redesigns or major rebuilds (these may be scoped separately)

We’re here to be a reliable, long-term partner—but we’re also not trying to be everything to everyone. If something’s out of scope, we’ll always tell you clearly and help point you in the right direction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of websites does Helm support?
We specialize in supporting websites and applications built with Drupal and Ruby on Rails. If your stack is mostly built on one of those platforms, we’re a great fit.
Can I use hours for new feature development?
Absolutely. Helm isn’t just about maintenance—we’re here to help you move forward too. Whether it’s building new components, improving accessibility, or streamlining workflows, it’s all fair game.
What happens if I don’t use all my hours?
Hours don’t roll over, but we’ll always work with you to prioritize your backlog or make improvements that are worth tackling. We’re here to make sure your site is always moving in the right direction.
Do you work with internal teams?
Yes. Helm is built to support and extend your team—not replace it. We’re here to partner with you, whether you have in-house developers or are flying a bit solo.
How does billing work?
Plans are billed quarterly, with a flat fee based on the number of hours in your subscription. No invoices full of surprises—just one predictable number every three months.
Can I cancel anytime?
We ask for a minimum of two-quarters commitment at a time. You can change or cancel your plan at the end of any billing cycle—no long-term contracts or awkward breakups.
Do you provide documentation?
Yes—we document everything we do, from architecture decisions to one-off fixes. Our goal is to make it easy for your team (or a future partner) to pick up where we left off. Helm is built for continuity, not lock-in.
How does Helm handle security?
Security is a top priority. We monitor for vulnerabilities, apply critical updates promptly, and follow best practices for both Drupal and Rails. We’ll also help you implement preventative measures—like access controls and audit trails—so your site stays protected.
